ATTEND A COMMUNITY-BASED CLASS
If you have minimal functional limitation, you should be able to participate in classes within your community that are designed for normally functioning adults. Most gyms and recreation centers offer a variety of classes, as do county and city programs. Ask to speak with the instructor before signing up for classes or committing to membership fees. You may be able to attend one class to see if it meets your needs.
If you have mild functional limitation you may feel more comfortable in a class that accommodates people who move more slowly: seniors and other special populations. You can find these classes in gyms and recreation centers. Assisted living facilities often offer this type of exercise class as do many counties and other municipalities. Ask to speak with the instructor or inquire about attending a sample class.
If you have found a class that you would like to recommend, please contact us.
You will be helping other stroke survivors!
